đź’Ş The Most Underrated Bodybuilder of All Time?

Welcome to Wednesday, where the lifts are strong, the squat rack is open, and the water is packed with amino acids.

Every sport loves an underdog, and bodybuilding is no exception. That's why we went deep on the 12 most underrated bodybuilders of all time.

There's a new documentary about Kai Greene out now, and we'll be glued to our screens until we're through at least eleventy-five viewings.

And he might not be a bodybuilder, but strongman Eddie Hall is coming out of retirement — and his competition prep diet is something for us all to behold.

It's the last week of summer, which means our mind bulk has officially begun.

HISTORY

12 Underrated Bodybuilders

Big names define bodybuilding. Physique champions who excel in the sport tend to remain in those positions for years — several Mr. (and Ms.) Olympia champions have established their own multi-year reigns, some lasting as long as a full decade.

But there are always bodybuilders who never seem to have their day in the sun or can’t recapture the lightning they once bottled on stage. Some of the most underrated athletes you’ve never heard of would still drop your jaw to the floor with the enormity and presence of their physiques.

Here are six to start:

  • Ritva Elomaa

  • Heather Armbrust

  • Yaxeni Oriquen-Garcia

  • Markus RĂĽhl

  • Dayana Cadeau

  • Robby Robinson

Most bodybuilders have mass. Kai Greene has mass and pizzazz, darn it.

Bodybuilder Kai Greene is notorious for his tumultuous rivalry with seven-time Mr. Olympia Phil Heath. The two Men’s Open bodybuilders battled on the grandest stage in the sport for the better part of a decade, from the late aughts to early teens.

On Aug. 26, 2022, Generation Iron released a documentary titled Kai, which tells the story of one of bodybuilding’s greats. Alongside the Vladar Company and producer of The Last Dance, Matt Maxson, Kai chronicles the life and career of Greene with “first-ever, all-access” interviews, including with Heath.

Eddie Hall's Day of Eating

Sure, bodybuilders can eat. But have you ever met a strongman?

The last time Eddie Hall competed at a professional strongman contest, he won the 2017 World’s Strongest Man (WSM). He’s recently kept busy by boxing with rival and 2018 WSM Champion Hafthor Björnsson and has even dove back into some old swimming roots.

This fall, the strongman legend will officially return to the sport by competing in the 2022 Giants Live World’s Strongest Nation (WSN) competition. In a team-oriented, head-to-head contest, Hall will be the captain of Team UK, while eight-time WSM competitor Robert Oberst captains Team USA. The competition takes place on November 26 in Liverpool, England.

In preparation for his return to strongman, Hall shared an August 24 video on his YouTube channel that details his daily nutrition three months before he competes in Liverpool.
