đŸ’Ș Build a Mass Monster Chest Like Dorian Yates

He-Man, Skeletor, and the rest of the Masters of the Universe gang were just announced as finalists for the National Toy Hall of Fame. Not to be presumptuous, but it feels like all of those characters would have been big Ripped Report fans. Well, maybe not Orko.

Before we dive in: Today’s edition of The Ripped Report is brought to you by Element 26 Knee Wraps. These cotton-elastic hybrid E26 wraps are built strong enough to support you during each massive clean and plate-rattling squat. And right now, get 10% off your order by heading here.

How can this year's Mr. Olympia field get even bigger? By adding last year’s 212 Olympia champ Derek Lunsford to an already scary lineup.

Speaking of scary, six-time Mr. O Dorian Yates was at the forefront of the "mass monster" era of '90s bodybuilding. Now you can find out how he built that titanic chest of his.

Finally, we make a case for ditching the leg press, Smith machine, and five other gym staples.

212 Champ Derek Lunsford Is Movin' On Up

The 2022 Mr. Olympia competition might have one of the most stacked rosters the sport has ever seen. You’ve got Mamdouh “Big Ramy” Elssbiay looking to retain his title at the top, flanked by veterans like Hadi Choopan and Brandon Curry. Then there’s the younger crop of talent like Nick Walker and Hunter Labrada, who can easily round out the top five. And if that's not enough, consistent performers like William Bonac are still lurking about, eyeing a spoiler role.

Now comes the news that Derek Lunsford, last year’s 212 Olympia champ, has received a special invite to compete in the Men’s Open division in 2022. The move has been rumored for a while, and now it finally looks like a reality. If Lunsford were to come away with the W this December, he'd be the first competitor to win an Olympia in two divisions.

Follow Dorian Yates’s Chest Workout for Olympia-Worthy Pecs

Dorian Yates wowed bodybuilding fans throughout the ‘90s by bringing unparalleled size and definition onto the Olympia stage. That physique earned him six Sandow trophies and helped usher in a mass movement that saw competitors pack on freaky size like never before. It’s a trend that continues today with the likes of Big Ramy approaching, or surpassing, 300 pounds.

While getting that big isn’t the goal for most, building a stronger body most definitely is. (Especially for you Ripped Report readers!) If you want tips on getting a powerful chest like Yates, we’ve got the high-intensity, low-volume workout that helped him get there. Here’s the kicker: Yates’s chest workout typically involved only four working sets per session. So when we say “high intensity,” we mean it.

The E26 wraps also don’t feature any Velcro, which is prone to wear, tear, and failure over time. Instead, these wraps offer a more streamlined design that cuts down on the bulk.

To ensure that these wraps can withstand the rigors of a serious gymgoer’s routine, the E26 team partnered with weightlifting legend Jon North to nail down the design. So rest assured, they’re suited for however you want to train.

But we're not just telling you which machines to avoid and calling it a day — we're also naming replacements for each so you can craft a rejuvenated program for those precious gains.
